Manufacturers are starting to take notice and provide better packaging with less left over waste.

Remember unboxing your last big gadget purchase? How many unnecessary layers of plastic, paper and cardboard did you have to wade through before getting to the actual hardware?

More to the point: Would you rather have more efficient packaging, less trash and a healthier environment?

The origami-like swaddling of hardware could be a much greener undertaking, and the companies focusing on better packaging solutions say their efforts could be a big part of making the gadget industry more sustainable. Supply chain firm ModusLink is one such company, and it’s done a bit of research on how much CO2 its environmentally friendly packaging is saving the planet.

ModusLink SVP Lorcan Sheehan wrote on the company’s blog that its sustainable packaging changes have so far “eliminate[d] a combined 4,085 metric tons of GHG through package changes — the equivalent of 672 passenger vehicles not driven, 8,254 barrels of oil not used and 404,421 gallons of gasoline not used.”

He says the new packaging is not surprisingly also good for the company’s bottom line; ModusLink saved its customers $6.2 million annually.

Take a look at the infographic below. Do you think more companies should be focusing on streamlined, greener packaging?

Where do a majority of buyers and real estate leads come from? Online Search, Real Estate Agent, Real Estate yard signage, etc…

Where do a majority of Real Estate buyers and leads come from?

According to NAR – National Association of Realtors, in 2007 International home buying activity;  How are consumers accessing your real estate listings today. According to the chart and marketing online, the internet is the most widely used tool in accessing real estate listings today. RealtyGo includes all your listing in a well structured and organized manner, specifically categorized and properly tagged for indexing by major search engines such as google, yahoo, youtube and bing.

Though the internet is the most popular source today for real estate search, buyers also cited information from real-estate agents (85%), yard signs (62%), open houses (48%) and print or newspaper ads (47%). Fewer buyers relied on home books or magazines, home builders, television, billboards and relocation companies.

Yard sign statistics is what we are most interested in for the purpose of this article. Even though the internet is the most popular tool when starting your home search; what happens when you find that perfect home, your desired  area or even the most charming neighborhood with all the right amenities that makes you want to jump in the car and start your search right away.

Most buyers start exploring right away, they may not even have an agent. So what’s the chances that when buyers look in an unfamiliar neighborhood for a new home or real estate investment, they also want to know about other homes, listings, and professionals specializing in real estate in the area. We would say its a very good chance. The more information a buyer can get in a shorter amount of time, helps confirm their emotions and good emotions lead to buying. So be proactive and provide buyers what they need to feel satisfied in their real estate search.

Flyer box Mobile TAG Sticker.

To help buyers along you should add a Mobile TAG to your real estate listing(s), enabling buyers immediate listing information, including photos, video tour, pricing, details and other important information they may want in order to make a valid decision. Mobile TAG’s encourage buyer interaction, which increase lead generation and additional sales. The image above shows a mobile TAG on a flyer box. This is also a great way to cut back on excessive paper and ink waste, giving end users the option of getting all your real estate listing information through a digital channel, such as their Smartphone, iPad, Tablet or any other enabled PDA device.

The internet has changed every aspect of how consumers make decisions nowadays, and that includes how people acquire and/or put their properties up for sale. So how will you use technology to practice successful real estate marketing in 2011?

Trulia and Zillow offer House-Hunting Applications for Mobile | RealtyGo_blog

Ipad_Real estate_RealtyGo_Trulia_Zillow_Blackberry

Trulia and Zillow, two of the biggest competitors in the online real estate space, are continuing to push into mobile with the addition of more smartphone applications.

Trulia.com said it is now supporting iPad and Android in addition to iPhone. Zillow has released a BlackBerry application, adding to a portfolio that supports iPad, Windows Phone, Android and iPhone.

Both are trying to offer access to information to home buyers wherever they want it, and not necessarily when they are in front of computers.

Being accessible to users whenever they want the information will be critical as both companies may jockey for an initial public offering in the not too distant future.

San Francisco-based Trulia recently said it was prepping for an IPO as it continued to build out its management team, and Zillow was reportedly in talks with investment bankers to discuss the prospects of going public.

Trulia said the addition of iPad and Android applications builds off a base of more than two million mobile users, who visited Trulia.com from their phones last month. That represents a more than 300 percent increase compared to the year earlier, it said.

Both the iPad and Android apps will be slightly different from what was being offered on the iPhone. The iPad app will use the larger screen real estate to display a color-coded heat map that examines the differences in average listing price and sold price within a city or county. The Android app will allow users to add open houses to their calendars and scan QR codes.

Zillow said with the addition of its BlackBerry app, it will now cover more than 90 percent of smartphone users. The Seattle-based company said its services are used on mobile devices more than 6.5 million times each month with 23 million visits to home detail pages.

Ipad_Real estate_RealtyGo_Trulia_Zillow_Blackberry

In addition to being able to search the BlackBerry app for homes based on a user’s location, they will also be able to filter searches by price, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and other information. Homes will be viewable in satellite or street view, and will feature color photos.

Get your Mobile TAG from RealtyGo on all your real estate advertising and signage, enable consumers to get photos and all your listing and contact information while in front of your listing(s). End users can auto schedule an appointment right from the listings, saving you time and offering an immediate action for lead generation by the potential buyer.

QR Codes, what’s the dilemma? Should i use them or should i not? Why wouldn’t you, is the answer!

So you already have one of these…WWW.?#&%?.COM.. , so why not have one of these too  (QR Code)

Just like with any new technology, early adoption of something new requires change and more work, etc. , ‘why would i use a QR Code for Multi level Marketing and promoting my real estate listings?’  The answer is why wouldn’t you!

RealtyGo understands the importance of simplicity when it comes to technology and easy to use applications. We have designed our service so everyone listing real estate can take advantage of new technology like QR Codes and Auto Text message scheduling; but most importantly to offer end users different modalities they feel comfortable using to get what they want when they want it.

You already have one of these http://WWW.?%&#@?.com You may as well have one of these too! Yes were referring to a QR Code. Its really that simple everyone. Why wouldn’t you use QR Codes? Its like every other new piece of technology that you say, “i’ll never use that, what a waste” then 2 months later you have 1,000 songs on your 2GM ipod nano and your 10 year collection of CD’s have been shelved, etc.. . Remember a good sales man uses tools that other people gravitate toward to be successful. Just because you may not believe QR Codes are a necessity right now doesn’t mean a first time buyer (which in 2010 was half of all the sales in the U.S. ; median age of 33) may prefer to use a QR Code to see all your listing info, use the complimentary mortgage calculator provided, get updated relevant information, photos, price, square footage and all your savvy online presence right from the get go, without trying to track the listing agent down by phone or email.

RealtyGo enables the end user to contact you when and how they feel comfortable doing so. If you just put your phone number on a sign, thinking ‘oh i’ll just wait by my phone every second of every day, being the best Agent there ever was’, etc.. then you are not only wasting your own valuable time, but doing a disservice to your career by making your self available by phone all the time, even neglecting continuing education classes or seminars due to the worry factor of not being able to answer each and every call on the first ring. Don’t act like you don’t know exactly what I’m talking about agents. It is humanly impossible to always be 100% available at all times for you real estate listings.

We couldn’t of said it better our selves Jason, “so people are gunna do it, cause it’s pretty easy to do” easy one minute video on how to use QR Codes from a third party company we chose randomly from YouTube. Thanks for posting the video Jason! RealtyGo

I always think of the safe auto commercials that have been running lately, technology when you want it, people when you don’t! – such a great, great example of letting the end user decide, but make sure you offer all channels of communication available and make it count, you may only get one change to earn someone’s business or make a sale over a competitor in today limited resource market. RealtyGo boosts your web presence, makes all your real estate affairs look dynamite within any mobile device, Smartphones, iPads, Tablets, etc.. , and you can promote Green real estate communication in regards to your professional and responsible conscious business.

Mobile use is growing faster than all of Google’s internal predictions, with YouTube seeing 200 million mobile playbacks a day, CEO Eric Schmidt said in his keynote at the Internet Advertising Bureau’s Annual Leadership meeting keynote. As proof of mobile’s growth, Schmidt cited some statistics related to this year’s Super Bowl advertisers: The number of mobile searches for Chrysler, for instance, jumped 102 times during the game, compared with only 48 times for desktop searches. And the number of mobile searches for GoDaddy jumped 315 times, compared with 38 times on desktops.Schmidt, who spoke Sunday at the IAB event in Palm Springs, Calif., also said that 78% of smartphone owners use their phones while they shop. “This is the future and everyone will adapt,” Schmidt said. “Because people are fundamentally better off with a better and smarter and more empowered, if you will, customer.”Mobile growth is occurring at a quicker rate than anyone expected, Schmidt noted. “We look at the charts internally and it’s happening faster than all of our predictions,” Schmidt said.Schmidt, who will leave his post as Google CEO on April 4, used those stats to make a case for linking display advertising and mobile.“The technology has finally caught up with the promises we talked about for so long,” Schmidt said. He predicted that display advertising could hit $200 billion business, though he declined to say when that milestone would be reached. Display is currently a $17 billion business globally. Google’s share of that is about $2.5 billion a year.
